Welcome to lochstyleflyfishing.com. We are committed to promoting and developing loch-style fly fishing in North America for both the recreational and competitive angler.
Although loch-style fishing is extremely popular and has been practiced for centuries by fly fishers throughout the United Kingdom, it has yet to be fully embraced by North American fly fishers. During my travels abroad and years as a competitive fly fisher on Team Canada, I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to train and study loch-style fly fishing with several coaches and members of the national fly fishing teams of England (John Horsey), Ireland (Michael Drinan), Scotland (John Buchannan) and Wales (Vince Gwilym). I owe them all a debt of gratitude for their friendships and willingness to share their knowledge with me.
Being an avid stillwater fly fisher, I quickly came to appreciate and respect the skills of these talented individuals and many others that I've met along the way, who have refined and transformed loch-style fly fishing into an art form. By embracing their teachings I have not only added a new weapon to my stillwater arsenal, but a whole new dimension to my fly fishing.
My hope is that this website will help to provide the necessary tools and information that will inspire others to hoist their anchors and give loch-style fly fishing a try... Todd Oishi
